Eligibility:

Winter Session is open to applicants who are no younger that 16 and no older than 20 by Dec 31 2011, and either a resident of the province of Manitoba, or a current member of another Canadian Youth Parliament.

About Winter Session:

Winter Session is our premiere event. Every year since 1922, we have held a parliamentary session at the Manitoba Legislature in Downtown Winnipeg, a proud tradition that continues to this day.

  • Date: 26-31 December 2011
  • City: Winnipeg
  • Location (debate): Manitoba Legislature, 450 Broadway
  • Location (overnight): Kelvin High School, 155 Kingsway
  • Age Range: 16-20
  • Cost: $115 ($105 before Nov. 11)
  • Maximum Attendance: 100

Accommodations:

Sleeping accommodations are provided for all members at Kelvin High School. After spending an amazing day at the Legislative building, there is nothing like changing into some comfortable clothing and relaxing into the wee-hours of the morning with friends around the school. The lounge and gymnasium provide the perfect settings to bond further with all the new people you will meet. While the gym acts as an outlet for any energy you have, the lounge provides the perfect place to kick back and relax with numerous couches and armchairs just waiting to be sat in.

Sleeping accommodations have the females’ beds located on the second floor of the school while the males’ beds are located in a wing of the basement. This leaves the cafeteria, kitchen, gymnasium, lounge and entire main floor open to all members. Male and female sleeping quarters are of course off limits to members of the opposing sex; this includes drop-off and pick-up times when parents/guardians are around as well.
